Hehhhh... ok, confession time -- I had no idea it was "a ring"! Really thought it was "rain" all along... and didn't notice the difference in the lyrics, coz I'd saved them in a file earlier.
So.. um... accidental misquote. But I think I prefer it too.

Oh.. um. Online lyrics are utterly unreliable. Half the sites have "a ring", the others, "rain"! Pah.

This reminds me of this arbit book I had read called The Song Reader. That speaks how each one of us interpret lyrics the way we would want it to be. very profound, the book was.
